ABOUT ME

I am a trauma-informed yoga teacher who believes yoga is so much more than the poses your body can hold. Yoga is a way for me to find inner stillness and connection in our chaotic world. My goal is to share some of that peace and joy through my practice with others and build community through the process. Currently, I'm completing a master's degree in social work and teach yoga to kids at an elementary school in the South Bronx.

VALUES

Liberation - Love - Healing - Joy

I am a yoga teacher, a social worker, and a community organizer. These are just a few of my identities that shape the way I see the world and the way I do the work that I do. Along with these identities, I try to bring my core values of liberation, love, healing, and joy with me.

​LIBERATION: personal liberation for our bodies and minds. Grow out your body hair if you want to, pierce and ink your body if it feels right. For some, it is part of their ancestral custom; for others, we just like it. Recognize how systems of oppression hurt all of us, and from that realization, try to do less harm to yourself and others.

LOVE: Assata Shakur says, "we must love each other and protect each other. We have nothing to lose but our chains." James Baldwin writes, "Love takes off the masks that we fear we cannot live without and know we cannot live within." bell hooks challenges us to think of love as a verb: "Love is an act of will, both an intention and an action." And Nina Simone reminds us we've "got to learn to leave the table when love's no longer being served." I am learning from my ancestors about how to change my relationship to love and ground myself within it.


HEALING: our bodies hold our stories and our history, right down to the cellular level. Breath and movement are part of an awareness practice I have used on my personal journey healing from trauma, and it's what I can offer to support you on your journey. As Lama Rod describes, healing is a "process of slow but intentional liberation. Healing is movement and work toward wholeness." Healing is freedom, and it is essential.

JOY: Liberation, love, and healing are hard. Finding the joy within that hard work keeps me grounded in myself and human connection. Audre Lorde says, "self-connection shared is a measure of the joy which I know myself to be capable of feeling, a reminder of my capacity for feeling. Once we begin to feel deeply all the aspects of our lives, we begin to demand from ourselves and from our life-pursuits that they feel in accordance with that joy that we know ourselves to be capable of."

1 hour Session: $125 

5 Class Package: $530 (15% off original price)

10 Class Package: $1000 (20% off original price)

*A note on pricing: my rate is what I charge to support myself, and I understand that it is not affordable for everyone. If that is you and you would still like to work together, please let me know in your message so that we might find another way to work together.
